Amazon.com Product Description If you're missing calls because you can't hear the phone ring, and if you don't find much comfort in those annoying (and tiny) blinking lights that aren't much help from across the room, consider the Uniden EZI-996. The practical design helps solve a number of problems for users with minor sight or hearing challenges.p Two large red lights on the base indicate when the phone is ringing and when you have a voicemail message--and they're large enough to see more clearly from a distance. A belt clip is included, so you can keep the handset with you as you walk around the house. You can also keep your hearing aid connected and wear the handset comfortably at your waist. Separate controls adjust the ringer and the handset volume, and a handset indicator sound helps you locate the unit if you've lost it in the couch cushions. The keypad is backlit and has large buttons, making it easier to see when dialing.p The EZI-996 operates with a reliable 900 MHz transmission and tried-and-true analog technology. With subscription to service through your local phone company, the 30-station caller ID tracks your recent calls and returns them at the touch of a button. A separate 10-station memory stores your most frequently dialed numbers, with a one-touch dial for an emergency contact. Uniden includes a one-year warranty covering parts and service. p BWhat's in the Box/Bbr Base, cordless handset, AC adapter, battery, battery cover, telephone line cord, belt clip, user's guide, warranty and registration card

beware!! December 31, 2008 Bought a different Uniden model. After less than a year of use, both fully charged handsets would disconnect in mid-conversation every two minutes. Finally threw them away.
great phone December 6, 2008 got this phone originally for husband's hearing deficiency; bought another one for Mother's vision deficiency (wanted largest numeric buttons to be seen).br /
Great Telephone October 24, 2008 Love this phone. Exactly what I needed. Has all the features one would want on a phone. Love that it has a loud ringer. Also like the message light when it lights up it is very bright and you can't miss it.
Great for no interference October 17, 2008 I bought this phone for it's 900 MHz feature which doesn't interfere with our wireless network or other electronic equipment - or should I say they don't interfere with this phone. We have a 5.8 MHz Uniden that has a short range due to the wireless interference, according to the Uniden tech support I spoke to. I am not elderly but still appreciate most features.br /br /The cons:br /-No speakerphone.br /-Can't use the phone when sitting on base - needs to be charged to use.br /-When dialing, the tone when dialing out is very loud - painful to the ear. The audio boost feature is off.br /br /The pros:br /Large buttons, easy to push with long nailsbr /Has a input jack to use headphones with (they don't come with phone)br /Easy to change volume while in callbr /br /I had few phones to choose from in the 900 MHz range, so the only thing that would lead me to buy another 900 MHz would be if it had a speakerphone, a full featured base, and expandable handsets.
900mhz the way to go October 6, 2008 I bought this for my mother-in-law, with an emphasis on IN-LAW.br /br /The problem with all the other phones, is that she could not travel around her cave, at the speed aided by a walker, without losing the signal.br /Lower frequency, longer range.br /ET 101.br /br /That's it.br /No more calls sayiing "Well it's nice but I can't hear when I'm"........fill in the blank.br /br /Aside from the obvious,"Don't go there when your on the phone!" I got her the 900mhz Uniden and the calls stopped.br /br /If you or anyone that you know is so afflicted, buy this phone, or ear plugs.br /br /"God is in his Heaven and all is right with the world".br /br /This phone fit the bill.
